KFC has modified their recently launched 5-in-1 meal box which now allows you to charge your phone while you eat from the box.kfc-watt-box

Named ‘Watt a Box’, it comes with a built-in and detachable 6,100 mAh Lithium-ion battery and a USB Cord. It includes a normal USB cord for Android smartphones and a lightning cable for Apple phones. This is a limited edition launch and only a few lucky customers from the KFC outlets in Delhi and Mumbai may get to use this.  This is not an open sale and only selected customers who win their online contest may get a chance to use it. This was created with the help of the Mumbai-based digital agency, Blink Digital.kfc-wattabox-image-2

“We launched the 5-in-1 Meal Box in March this year with the objective of providing an abundant complete meal and at an affordable price for our customers,” KFC India’s chief marketing officer, Lluis Ruiz Ribot, told the Times of India. “With the launch of the Watt a Box, we have gone a step ahead and also introduced an element of utility into the box.”kfc-watt-box-1

Although this isn’t exactly the first time KFC has launched something with a ‘technological’ improvement. Last year, KFC introduced ‘Memory Buckets’ which had inbuilt Bluetooth in a bucket of fried chicken which enabled the customers to print out photos that are taken on their phones. This was their 60th Anniversary and the Memory Buckets was launched in Canada. In September 2015, KFC Romania gave free meals to customers who came down to their outlets when social media networks were down. Pizza Hut had also introduced something with a tech twist on their menu. They launched a makeshift film projector which enabled customers to project movies by attaching a lens to an extension in the pizza box and by using a smartphone. Interestingly, both KFC and Pizza Hut are owned by Yum Brands.mcdonalds-happy-goggles pizza-hut-movie-projector-box-2

McDonalds and Coca-Cola also launched a cardboard VR Headset which was made using recycled objects and was done to create awareness about the same.
